Case study — BIM architectural services for an Australian park

A nationally-ranked Australian construction company, established in 1925, engaged ASTCAD to deliver complete BIM architectural services for a public park project. As the main contractor on a non-standard build (a park rather than a typical building), the client needed to find all inter-discipline clashes before construction began to meet tender deadlines and protect margin.

The challenge

The contractor wanted to extract maximum value from BIM on a project that didn’t fit the usual building envelope. Coordinating the disciplines above and below the landscape, integrating temporary works, and managing public-interface safety required a federated model that could be challenged and refined before any tradesperson was on site.

The solution

Our BIM specialists modelled the entire park in Revit at LOD 300, producing federated NavisWorks reviews and visual stakeholder communications. During tender the contractor could showcase the project visually within the client’s time, design and cost constraints. We integrated all disciplines under and above the landscape garden into a single coordinated model and ran clash detection in three rounds.
